It is one of those projects that must defy time, as only a library and a museum can and know how, as safekeepers of memory, but also as projection in the future. 2016 marks the tenth anniversary of the historic enlargement of the Morgan Library in New York by Studio RPBW – Renzo Piano Building Workshop. An ambitious project, which included three new connecting buildings with and underground auditorium and the unique glass entrance on Madison Avenue. In particular the extension involved a new reading room and a new exhibition space, office spaces, renovation of museum’s vaults and a number of service areas. Among the latter, the cafeteria and the restaurant on the Library with the Arthur tables, designed for the occasion by the Genoese studio, and produced by De Padova, with a functional steel central leg and a laminate square top, which ensures freedom of movement and change the layout of the arrangement. Always by DePadova are the timeless chairs Silver and Pollack by Vico Magistretti and elegant sofas (Pollack collection) made ad hoc, slightly lowering the seat height. The decor of a place so full of history and stories helped for a collaboration with the RPBW Studio, another opportunity for DePadova to prove its design and manufacturing flexibility and the versatility of its collections.
